The first Prada bags treated by LORENZ.OG, created as one-of-one Dusk and Menta prototypes while his colour practice was beginning to move beyond footwear.

IN BRIEF
The first Prada bags treated by LORENZ.OG, created as one-of-one Dusk and Menta prototypes while his PATENTED COLORSCHEMES® practice was beginning to move beyond footwear. Disndat helped structure the project with a luxury concept store in California, selecting objects capable of introducing Lorenz’s colour language to new audiences. Neither treatment was repeated, leaving both bags as unique records of that expansion.
ARCHIVE NOTE
These two Prada Re-Nylon Re-Edition 2000 mini-bags were created by British colour designer Lorenzo G. Federici, known as LORENZ.OG, as one-of-one prototypes in his established Dusk and Menta colourways. Beginning with identical white Prada bags, Federici used the objects as a new surface for the gradient dye techniques through which he had become known primarily in footwear.
The Re-Edition 2000 is Prada's contemporary interpretation of an archival turn-of-the-century bag design. The model is constructed from the house's Re-Nylon, a regenerated polyamide developed using ECONYL® yarn, with a woven handle, zip closure and Prada's enamelled triangular badge. Prada introduced its Re-Nylon programme in 2019 as a reworking of nylon, a material that had long become closely associated with the house. The white Re-Edition provided a particularly receptive base for Federici's approach to colour.
The two prototypes are significant within Federici's wider development because they translated colourways already associated with his footwear into a different product category. He has described his PATENTED COLORSCHEMES® as colour systems intended to be reused and reinterpreted across different silhouettes and mediums, rather than designs tied permanently to a single shoe. Dusk, characterised by a gradual transition through warm sunset tones, became his most recognisable expression; Menta developed as another recurring colourway within the same body of work.
The move beyond sneakers also followed a line of thinking already present in Federici's practice. In a 2022 interview he recalled Virgil Abloh suggesting that his approach could be applied to handbags and heels, an idea Federici said materially changed his understanding of the audiences and objects his work might reach. By that point he was already experimenting outside footwear, including with outerwear.
The Prada pieces developed from a project organised by Disndat with a luxury concept store in California. Disndat negotiated a group of objects for Federici to work on, deliberately balancing familiar footwear with categories that could expose his colour language to a different audience. Alongside significant sneaker models, two new white Prada Re-Nylon bags were selected for experimentation. Disndat coordinated the relationship with the store, arranged for the objects to reach Federici, managed content requirements and oversaw their onward logistics to California.
Federici dyed both bags at home shortly before they were required for presentation. The resulting Dusk and Menta examples were the first Prada bags he had produced. They remained prototypes rather than the beginning of a repeated series: neither treatment was reproduced on another Prada bag, leaving each as a unique one-of-one application of its respective colourway. Both were subsequently presented at the California store and sold to a private client in the United States.
Their significance therefore lies less in Prada alone than in what the objects record about the development of Federici's practice. Dusk and Menta were already recognisable visual signatures. Applying them to a luxury bag tested whether that identity could survive a change in medium and audience. The answer became part of a broader progression towards treating colour itself, rather than any particular footwear silhouette, as the central element of his work.
For Disndat, the project is an example of working around an existing creative language rather than attempting to replace it: identifying an adjacent context, introducing the right object and commercial relationship, and handling the practical structure required for an experiment to reach the public.
